In May of this year, I took a business trip to the beautiful island of Maui. Luckily, I had enough free time to enjoy my surroundings. Here are some of the highlights of my trip:
Surfing
Hawaii is known for its world-renowned beaches. Ho’okipa Beach on the North Shore was a go-to spot for me. However, if you’re a beginner rider, be aware that there can be riptides, relentless waves, and sharp rocks.
Poke
For those that aren’t familiar with this dish, traditional poke is typically made with ahi tuna, served on a bed of rice, and finished with toppings such as seasame oil and nori (dried seaweed). My favorite spot was a local joint called South Maui Fish Company.
Hiking
Those that know me are aware that I love excising and being outdoors, so visiting Haleakala National Park was a must. The scenic park (and dormant volcano) is located 10,023 feet above sea level so you can just imagine the kinds of views I had.
